Hello, we meet again, this time, I will tell you my experience of my best vacation haha. To tell the truth I have had very few vacation outings with my family, on the other hand, in the summer I was very used to attending the spiritual and physical retreat of the sport I practice. Gashuku as it is called, in Karate, is a period of time, about one or two weeks, that you spend with your companions and friends who train this martial art, focused solely on training our mind and body, with individual challenges and between our group. In order to disconnect with the everyday world and connect with yourself through meditation, teamwork, in order to reach the limits of your body and mind.
Each day is a different experience, we start with half an hour of meditation at 5:30am, then we do Kihon which are basic techniques of karate, then we have a time to have breakfast and rest, then, before lunch we do Kata, which are basic techniques applied to real situations. Finally in the afternoon, after lunch, we have Kumite, which is in a few words a combat, where you apply everything learned previously, without a doubt it is one of the most physically exhausting moments, but not the worst haha, finally exercise, we have a challenge in a group, this is undoubtedly the most difficult but most satisfying to achieve it, I remember the first time, I was about to fall apart because of the tiredness and how mentally exhausted I was, but the group was yelling at you and cheering you up to finish it.
The last thing was to share our experiences and anecdotes among all, and watching the movie Kuro Obi, I will not tell you more and I encourage you to see it haha. It is an incredible experience that I did every summer, unfortunately due to the pandemic situation it has not been possible to do it, but I look forward to living it again next year. I invite you to participate in some kind of spiritual retreat and connect with yourself, I assure you that it is an experience that you will not forget.
